How do I keep my dogs pool clean?

My dogs have there own little pool they love to splash in. But it gets really dirty, really fast. I know chlorine isn’t safe for dogs, so what can I put in the pool to keep out the algae and help keep it clean. I’d rather not have to empty and refill it every few days.
